Liner Notes:

this compliation of demos stems from sessions during 2001-2004. it is carved from the overflow of songs that did not make it onto the as-yet-unreleased sElf album "Ornament And Crime".

it was a weird time. i'd moved from murfreesboro tennessee to los angeles california in an attempt to get closer to my record label. 1999's sElf album "breakfast with girls" had not been promoted & i was determined to change that. i feverishly began writing songs & calling my a&r guy saying, "you got 5 minutes?". this went on for 3 years....

as i listen to this material, i can hear, at times, many feeble attempts to please the label. i guess, in the end, it doesn't matter what you do if you're not pleasing yourself. i can hear alot of not pleasing myself going on.

however, i do care a great deal for some of these songs & for the fun we had while recording them. some took 5 minutes, some took a month, some rock, some suck. do enjoi.
